Light on a Rainy Day
It was a rainy day. The skies were grey outside but there was a lot of sunshine indoors!
23 young people (including a small smattering of young-at-hearts) got together to reach out – and be blessed in the process. We started off with an excellent worship set led by Bro. Nitin Ogole. Then a short message about “loving our neighbours as we love ourselves.” The participants were divided into mini-teams of 2-3 and briefed on the HIV affected family that they would be spending the day with. A prayer later they were on their way – fanning out across Thane to do good – and be changed.
A few hours later we reconverged for a time of sharing and reflection.
What joy to hear what took place.
“This was the first time I ate with someone who was HIV positive.”
“I normally do not do any work at home – but here in the home of my new friends I was able to help out.”
“I was afraid about coming to this programme – and being apart from the people I came with – but when we got to the home it was so wonderful.”
“The family was so happy to have us visit them. They said that their own relatives have ignored them.”
“I told people about my hope in Jesus for the first time.”
We then broke into the church groups that we had come through – in order to visualize what we had experienced over the day – and make think about the next steps to take together. These were then shared with the bigger group!
Finally it was time to wrap up the day. We had been together since 9AM when we went into the last song:
